Wood chipper on my 1710

Clearing a spot for a new wood shed the 1710 handles the Chipper so much better than the 8n although I ran it with the 8n for many years. Moving it around with the PTO running was a pain so I usually disconnected the PTO shaft when moving. The carryall box on the 8n is handy for catching the wood chips. The chipper will take up to 4 inches but I burn anything over 2" or 3". I took down a dead Hemlock so there was a lot of brush to chip along with what came down over the winter. I know someone will mention the missing shield on the PTO shaft but it was cheap plastic and it broke, I need to address that soon.

I just bought a Wood Maxx 8H chipper to use behind my 1710. Great machine, great combo. Haven't used it much yet, but the snow is just now gone. Lots to be done.

I think as long as you keep your hands out of the pto shaft you?ll be alright That thing could kill you a lot of ways If you weren?t extra careful.
