801 Ford Hydraulic Problem

Have a Ford 801 hydraulic lever stuck in the middle position. Lever will move a little to raise then drop down. Worked fine last fall. Hydraulic fluid looks like it has some water in it from condensation. Will drain fluid and replace to see if that helps. Any suggestions?

How cold is it?

If it's not possible there is ice in it, take the valve apart.

Possibly there is something jamming the lever or the return spring is broken.

There could also be something jamming the spool itself. If so, whatever is jamming it will need to be picked out through a port, or blown out. Just don't force it. The fit between the spool and housing bore is very critical, don't want to burr or scratch either one.

I would wait until you can warm the tractor up before changing nay fluids. Any water/ice is not going to come out when it is real cold. You could have nothing more wrong than some ice blocking the valve. Get the tractor and fluids warm. Then change the fluids an see if you still have any troubles. I would bet they go away.
