Most asked question I get.

The Most asked question I get? is what wait of motor oil should I run in my engine. I am not any body to be posting this but I always get a person asking this question. What I do understand is this that engine oil has changed threw the years (since the 1930's -1950's). We have what we call a Mulita grade oil this means that you see two numbers on it like a (10-30 wait). the 10 is really what it is guarantee for but when the engine warms up it thickens up to 30 wait. Thus giving the protection for a cold engine and till it warms up and then the oil shall be at 30 wait. What is nice about this type of oil it will cover the engine in Cold weather and hot weather. This why the Mulita Grade oils came out because it gives you protection on the engine at all time. Most people would say it might help out on the furl miles but I like to think about the protection on wear and tear. Like I said when I first started this post I am really no body to say what to use in your engine for oil.

Remember in the mid 80's got my first car.. 79 mustang.. ran 10W-30.. folks ran 10-30 in their trucks friends ran 10-30 in their vehicles..

Forward 30 years..I have an F250 takes 5w-30, wifes car takes 5w-40, Old chevy I have takes 10-30..

So I now have three different oils for three vehicles..(along with the rotella for skidloader) tractos, lawn stuff all use 10-30 so thats prob what I use and have on hand mostly..

Yes 3020, for years we could run 15-40 in everything. Then when the CAFE rules took effect the manufacturers had to specify lighter oils in pretty much all vehicles in order to boost mileage. MY '06 super duty specifies 15-40 though if towing.

I thought numbers had to do with how fast you drove. My father was always meandering along at 10-30 miles per hour depending on how tall the corn was or how many calves were in the neighbor's pasture. I on the other hand wanted to be a teenage speed demon and drive between 80-90. Might explain why I had so many premature engine failures.
