Hi all, Been looking for a trailer to haul my tractor on. I'm trying to find what was called a "Pan" type trailer! It only has two pan runners that the wheels ride
on, and the center is open front to back
. It has two axles. I have seen one with three axles. The reason I like this type is they are low slung!! Thanks Jim in N.M.

That is the same basic trailer as a standard "car hauler" trailer, just with no boards and metal pans for the wheels to ride on. Deck height will be similar because the frames are similar. There are some differences in designs that change deck height a little, but that goes for both types.

Yes, what you're thinking of is considered a "Car Hauler". If you can drive between the wheel wells, you got it made. They do make car haulers with "drive over" wheel wells. If you have to stop in the middle of drive over wheel wells when transporting, then you need a "Deck Over" trailer.

I have a car hauler type of trailer. 10,000 pound axles. My tractors with 13.6 38's just barely fit between the fenders. That is with the wheels slid in as far as they can be. So a close measurement of your tractor tire width is required. I'm sure you know this, but just trying to be helpful. gobble

If future use with hauling bulk materials like gravel, mulch, etc. and narrow front tricycle tractors is even a possibility you would be much better off with a bumper pull car hauler. On both designs one would drive between the fenders to load. They have similar designs, deck heights, various axle ratings available, etc. With the open center design for me that is just a place for road dirt and grime to get on your tractor, car, etc. being hauled.

The only thing you have to watch out for is if you get to low of a trailer they will drag on ground or pavement going in and out of drives with a dip in them and maybe even hang up.

The ones that I have seen did not appear to be an eighth of an inch lower than a full deck car hauler.

A friend of mine had one like that, he used it to haul a stock car around.

Came in handy for doing quick oil changes but really was a pain for hauling anything other than a vehicle.

Set you tractor for 30 in rows or somewhere close and it should fit many of the car haulers around, they mostly have a standard width between the fenders.
