Hydraulic bucket leak down revisited.

Returning to the problem I started in the thread below.

For the sake of argument at the moment lets assume the problem lies in the valve. Here is a diagram I found of the valve. I'm wondering the exact function of the #10 CHECK PLUGS. Im not clear how this system works and thought the problem might be with one of those but not sure. Any thoughts? Mine actually has three valves ( one additional for accessories) but in this photo the problem would be in the left one without the detent.

I'm not sure of the check valve function, but looks like they would be easy to remove and inspect.

Or, switch them side for side, see if the problem goes to the lift cylinders.

Did you try moving the handle with the engine off to see if it will hold?

If it will, could be a problem with 24, or 27 loose.

Im planning on working on it tonight.

I was going to pull the check plugs out and switch them around but will have to remove some stuff to gain access.

I will try moving the pedal with the engine off as you suggest first. My gut feeling is that wont work as Ive tried holding the pedal at different positions while running. it never seemed to help until you moved the spool enough to hear the relief valve start to squeal.

The #10 checks should be cross port check valves. When the engine is off and you move the controls, nothing should move. You need to have hydraulic pressure to open the check on the opposite line so the return
oil can pass back through the valve. They serve to keep the boom from dropping before lifting when you slowly shift the valve, also keep the cylinders from dropping uncontrolled by gravity when you activate
lower/dump. I would swap with the check plugs from your accessory valve, as they are likely used very little.
