selling etiquette

Almost 2 years ago I sold a parts tractor to a guy. He took some of the parts but the bulk of it is still laying out on the property.
After a year I ran an ad in the same 2 places I did the first time asking for the gent that bought the stuff to contact me and I had no response from him at all.
It will be coming up on 2 years now and I would like to get the stuff cleared out, what is the proper length of time to wait before I get rid of it.

I always establish that in writing before I buy or sell anything if it is not removed at time of sale weather it be 2 weeks or 2 years. How's that for a run on?

After two years he got what he wanted off it, forgot about it or probably both. Do with it as you see fit. He is gone.

I've got a combine in my shed I sold over the internet two years ago.Paid for and
have never seen the guy.I Also have cultivators, tractor front and rear weights,a
farmall pto assembly all sold years ago off the internet.I had an international
parked along the road with a for sale sign on it.A guy stopped and bought it for
2000.He paid cash so i figured he would be back. That was 10 years ago.A year
later a lawyer told me to sell it and if he showed up give him his money back.

Not sure in your state. But in Texas the guy has thirty days to pick it up. If notified and no response you can charge storage or sell
it. I would check the laws of your state.

Hey Ray -- the dude that gave You 2 grand for a tractor must have have went home and told His wife -- have You seen his name in the obituary?
Just saying --LOL -- Roy

Years ago I sold a decent Farmall M to a fellow paid me in cash and told me he would be
back in a few weeks to pick it up. Didn't hear from him for over 6 months. Finally
tracked down his son and found out the man had passed away. Son told me didn't want
anything to do with the tractor and for me to keep it or sell it again he could care
less. I sold it again and tried to contact him for over a year to give him his money
back but he would never return my calls. Best money I ever made off of a old tractor!

Unless the buyer asked you if he could take a lengthy amount of time to pick up the stuff when he made the buy I would dispose of it now.

Have has same thing happen several times. I have a plow that I have sold twice and been paid both times and still sitting in the shed. There is no right or wrong answer for these situation, just personal etiquette that varies with the situation. My personal tolerance for such ends at 2 years and the piece gets resold, junked or whatever I wish to do with it.

I have a Cat 22 crawler I sold to a guy back in 1981,see him at sales up North sometimes claims he's coming to get it,no big deal its sitting over in a field and the goats love playing on it(LOL)Have a loader that came off a White 2-70 I sold 3 years ago never heard from the buyer again.Thinking of putting it on a tractor if he shows up we can take it off.

Make agreements when an item is sold when it is paid for, how long he has to pick it up, else you get the opportunity to sell it
again, and no refunds for the first purchase......else storage fees will be charged if money return is asked. Shouldn't have to
store a sold item for anyone.
