Almost a Whoops or an Oh $%#@

I'm back working on "Was running when parked 4", a '54 TO 30. I bought it last June and got it running. In late fall I started flushing the trans/hydraulics/rear end and got side tracked by "life". Today I went to drain the diesel/water/fluid mix and thought it was about drained. ..... Then I realized with my rather aged brain that the front end is lower and surely it wouldn't totally drain. After jacking the front up about a pint of "stuff" came out. Sometimes a 71 y.o. brain still works.

i just turned 53 last week.. the last time I changed oil in my F250 (which I have done alot over the years)I put the pan under the truck and proceeded to unscrew the transmission drain plug.. started running out and the thought goes through my head..."I dont remember truck oil being red.... OH #%^&$&$*.. Go figure. only dropped about a quart but oh well... LOL

Don't feel alone. Ive been changing oil before I entered grammar school with grandpa. I did most everything, Grandpa just guided me and made sure everything was tight and right. I counted out the quarts of oil etc. Fast forward 50+ years. I put a gallon or 2 of new oil in the top of my pickup when I noticed the floor had a puddle of oil oozing out from under it. Rather clean oil. I dropped down and put the plug in. First time in over 50 years of changing oil that I did that. Guess its time for a check list.

A few years ago I changed oil in of my 2-cylinders. Opened the wrong plug and dumped all the transmission/rear end grease out of it. Those 2 plugs are fairly close to each other, and the old brain fart kicked in.
Good to see I'm not the only one!

I was working in the shop between earth moving jobs. I had change oil in three dump trucks that mourning and the foreman asked me to look over the newest used truck and change the fluids. I dumped 7 gal of oil in it, and I could not understand why it was over full of oil. I took a little while to realize what I had done, the dump trucks were diesel, the newest Ford was a gas burner. It took 7 qt. It was clean on the inside!
