How much is an aftermarket 3 point worth?

Complete, little rust, factory made / just a bit high but may take slightly less ? cheaper than new. Do you really need one? I have one on an M Farmall and have not used for 20 years but do not want to sell. I have 4 other tractors with factory 3 point

That seem high to me but I have not looked at cost of them new now days. My self I build my own 3 point system on my tractors I want 3 point on

may depend on area but around here you can find them for 4 to 500 in good ready to use condition

Seems like for that price it should be ready to go. I had one for an Allis Chalmers one time, seems like I sold it for about $250. Bear in mind that you'll not have any draft control, so pretty much useless for plowing, a little less useless for back blade. If you're going to move round bales, for a little more money you could get a loader for the tractor and have something useful year-round.

BTW, I have one, complete, for a JD styled A, B or whatever others it would fit. It fits on the rockshaft, so tractor must have that. Needs some cleaning up, been on a shelf in the barn for about 35 years. Price is negotiable, item is in western Washington- shipping should be pretty reasonable through Fastenal. Email me if interested, I'll drag it out and take some pictures.

It would be nice. It would open up a whole world of equipment. That "in between" equipment can be had for pennines on the dollar around here. Just an example I seen a four row cultivator in nice shape sell for $150. The BTOs don't want to mess around with the small equipment and the deer plot guys don't want anything bigger then a 2-14 plow or at most a 8 ft disk the full time guys won't even look at a plow unless its 6 bottom or bigger and anything less then a 15ft disk is scrap iron.

I bought one new for my D-14 15 years ago - IIRC it was around $400.
I don't use it for draft work, but I use it for everything else. I made up a hitch for it with slots for chains for skidding logs. I also welded a 2" receiver to it- it's super handy for moving trailers etc.

(quoted from post at 10:17:57 03/29/18) Found an aftermarket 3 point fairly close to me. But guy want $550 and has no cylinders or hoses. Seems a little high to me as I priced cylinders and hoses and it would cost around $150-$200 for cylinders hoses etc. What do you guys think?https://fargo.craigslist.org/grd/d/farmall-3-point-hitch/6544518259.html

Can we say "lipstick on a pig"? I wouldn't pay over $400, and then ONLY after I verified that it is not worn out, bent, twisted, etc.

I was just thinking of building a 3 point for my WD45. Just realized the parts are available to buy and then weld them together. I have snap coupler stuff now and I hate mowing around the machines because of the "tongue " sticking out. Then a few years ago I made a cart for the drawbar because I am getting too old and weak to carry that drawbar assembly around. Then I would get to buy more (3 point) machinery 🙂

The WD45 I have has a home made 3 point on it. It came with it and works ok. I built a 3 point for the D-17 I have that is a series 1. Not all that hard to convert a snap coupler set up to a 3 point just by adding a cross bar for the lift arms to pivot on and then a center link mount and your pretty much done other then adding sway chains

Well, for what it's worth, I have that exact same
style 3pt on my M, and it came from up in that area
of MN, small town of Bagley. Anyway, it may seem
like $550 is high, but I wouldn't take any less for the
one I have. It is a really well built hitch system that
will lift anything that an M is capable of moving. I've
seen some cheaper ones, but the quality is not
nearly as good either.

I have 2 aftermarket 3 points one on a 560 the other on a Farmall SMTA. As mentioned you don't have draft control, but for other things, a ditcher or brushhog they work good and makes the tractor more versitle. I don't think either of mine are in as good a shape as the one in the picture. I have been working on mine to get one side to turn right to level an implement. It looks like the one you picture has good leveler arms, they are about 100 each. The one pictured may be a Worksaver and parts are still available for it. They come up on YT picture adds occasionally but you could spend a good deal in shipping, this one is close. Guess it is up to you and how much you will use it. Guess it is kinda like some other things, better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it.

That's a Saginaw 3-pt, they haven't made them for 4-5 years, but when the did the 2 cylinder hitch sold
for less than $550. Two 3"?8" cylinders are $145 plus tax, and hoses and fittings are another $80. So
offer him $300 and if he doesn't take it walk away. He either changes his mind and sells it or you find
another one that's complete.

Hello, Sodbuster: I have a like new Sagninaw 3 point hitch. I put it on a Super M Farmall about 14 or 15 years ago. The only task I ever did with it was blade a bit of snow and gravel with it for a few years. Mine does have the two hydraulic cylinders. I cannot recall, but I think the new price on that was something like $625.00 to $699.00, and if I recall, the last ones made, advertised in the Red Power Magazine might have been priced at $799.00. I haven't used it in probably 10 years. I am located in SW Minnesota, but I also have an upcoming trip to Duluth, which may be as soon as the end of next week. The hitch is located at my parents' farm about half an hour away, so I cannot provide photos of it to you right away. I am going there for Easter and could probably get some then. I also have a friend of mine who has an older one, which I think may be a "Cornhusker" brand. It is just the hitch, and it is set up to utilize just one hydraulic cylinder. I know he wants to sell it, but am unsure as to how much he wants for it. I am not quite sure what I want for the one I have, but am open to talking about it. If interested, let me know. I think I remember how to open up "email" for this site.

I've seen them at auctions at $550-650 with cylinders, so he's a little steep but in the ballpark.

I bought one about 15 years ago, picked it up at the Saginaws shop, paid $625. I think it is better, and heavier than most factory hitches. Really made a whole new tractor out of my Farmall H.

IH would be a popular brand for those hitches and his fits a wide range of models. The seller is probably shooting to get $500 for it. If its still there in six moths he may be willing to settle for $400.

I think Saginaw stopped making 3 point hitches several years ago. That does make sense because the market demand has probably declined. Almost every tractor made in the last 55 years has been available with a factory 3 point hitch and factory draft control. Does anyone else still make 3 point hitch kits for tractors?

When I went to their shop, they weren't very busy then, 1 guy working full time, they made several thousand, but ran out of customers. I think they went into fabbing other stuff.

If I was to purchase all the material that is in the lift in question, fabricate it at say $50.00 / hour...paint it...I can not make one for $550.00. Eight hours fabrication X $50.00 = $400.00 + cost of material.

If anyone on "YT" will fabricate one for $500.00 for you, get it in writing as they are probably going to complain when the final price is totaled:

$550.00 is a bargain.

These things also don't come along every day. How many of them are for sale on your local Craigslist? Just this one? Point made.

It really is a seller's market. He may be a little high on price but he also might be willing to come down if you wave the cash under his nose. This is all contingent on the hitch not being all beat up and twisted, of course.

I really think $500 would be a fair price even without cylinders. A lot of these guys like to tell you what THEY would pay, not what a fair price is worth for something. If you really want it, you'll be willing to pay a fair price. If you're only buying it because it's cheap, then you won't because it's not cheap.
