Lackluster auctions this spring

Anybody else notice that the quantity and quality of the stuff at the annual consignment sales and machinery dealer clearance auctions is lacking this year? I mean yeah it's usually mostly junk but there just isn't as much junk this year as there usually is.

Yep, the annual consignment sale down at Penn Yan was really poor in terms of offerings. I seldom go to Bentley's but wish I had due to a Super W6 to check the price. The auctioneer did not offer internet view for that sale or at least it would not come up for me. Two auctions this coming Saturday but probably going to miss both. Somebody was saying that there will be a fair amount of farm tractors at Saxby's but I would imagine that would be H's and M's and little Fords.

Haven't been to one yet. There's one coming up April 7th. The other one here was last Saturday but there was a farm retirement sale the same day that I wanted to go to. It started at 10 and the consignment sale started at 9. Several guys showed up at the farm sale saying they went to the consignment sale first. They found what you're describing, nothing there. They said two Farmall Hs and a JD 50,one ring around the inside of the driveway and a few wagon loads of junk. Last spring the same sale was huge. A lot of late model tractors and large equipment.

There are lots of good size auctions going on this spring in western/southwestern Ontario this year, your way not busy?

They quit consignment auctions here three years ago. No dealer
auctions. Just household auctions for people moving to nursing
home. I miss watching the old tractors.

Wooster Ohio had one early this this month. I do not know anyone who attended but there was a very large amount of equipment brought into it.

Bentley Brothers is in Albion west of Rochester. They are a Kubota dealer who when they do an auction also accepts consignments. Their spring auction was last Saturday. They were a White/AGCO dealer but I think that is all gone.
