How about using crumb rubber on a road?

I have the opportunity to get some crumb rubber for free. They will even load. Reportedly comes from shredding the artificial turf from a football field. Thinking about putting it down on the road on my place, mixing with gravel. Anyone else done this? Is it a good idea or stay away?

I would pass. I remember when they tried that with ground up tires here in Texas. I worked on the engine that powered the machine. I saw one drive way turn black from it. Stain was everywhere.To me the whole thing was a total failure.
