Craigslist No way...

John Deere 4630 for $5500. I'd call it a scam but it looks more legitimate than the rest of the scams I normally see on there...

It is definitely a scam, if you do a craigslist search nationwide you will find that same listing all over the nation. I'm sure if you keep looking you will find the original listing that someone stole to make the fake one.

Whomever wrote the description likes run on sentences. Likely someone who wasn?t educated in a western country.

That picture was taken in Mountain Home Arkansas on an Ebay Bid that ended Jan.5. Winning bid was 8400.00 dollars.

go to google type in search craigslist nationwide using google, then it will take you to a screen you can search whatever item you are looking for.

They bank on greed. They hope to find someone who just has to get that fantastic once in a lifetime deal. Now think about this. The population of the US is 320 plus MILLION people. If they get one a month that's 60K a year at 5K per hit. 260K if they get one a week. Now if they live someplace like Africa they can live like a king on 60K a year. Heck some places that's a pretty decent living with just one hit a year when the average peasant makes 500 a year.

If the price is cheap and there is an email address in the ad it is a scam. I mark them "prohibited" when I see them. Kubota and John Deere seem to be popular

Was a pretty nice 4620 right down here in SW MI for $ 6500 a year ago. Listed on CL but had persons name and real phone number and was a familiar farm name. Just have to smarter than the "scammer" !!

What they're looking for in these ads is INFORMATION. They want you to respond directly with your email address or call. When you do that, they now have your email address and phone number to sell. They don't want your money. That's too messy and too much chance of getting caught.

If you think it's a scam, flag the ad by clicking on the prohibited link. Don't just sit there and muse about it. Do your part to keep the scams down to a dull roar.

Just so you understand how it works (I'm a bit of a Craigslist junkie), flagging the ad does not instantly get it removed. It's a vote against the ad. When the ad receives enough votes, it will be removed automatically.

Nobody's asking anyone to "go on patrol" and review every ad. Just the ads you'd normally look at. If they're scams, or dealers posting as "by owner," or they just plain tick you off, flag them as prohibited.
