My HD6B will be leaving for it's new home next Monday when the frost laws come off. Only going about 6 miles. Been a good machine, and I know that a week after it leaves I'll NEED it for something.

Looks like it served well. You are correct in the "find a use for it after it is down the road" thinking. Jim

I recently sold my HD6B. Glad to get rid of it. Never got used to that hand-clutch. Good machine though.

So you are breaking up with a good girl friend ( Allis Chalmers). could it be that one of these days she might come back to you. Yes I do have a (Allis Chalmers Model B). You might say she is the best girl friend I have had. she always starts up and never complains. I think some times this tractor is even better than the girls I had dated. I will not break up with my girl may be I am sick but she's the best (Allis Chalmers). My dad would had said do not park it next to the John Deere I am tired of getting a baby called CASE (L.O.L).

It has to do with things thawing out during certain months.Roads can be damaged. I think in the spring thaws. But I am not clear on that. Being from East Texas.

frost laws according to wikipedia have to do with ground thawing, moisture escaping from under the pavement, etc.

John, up here in Alberta (we have some oil here along with Texas), road bans can get pretty complicated, including the spring thaw period. There is a government website dedicated to that along with all the variables, etc explained pretty good and kept up to date. See the link below ....
Alberta government road ban information

The actual name is "seasonal load restriction" they lower the load limit per axle, and lower the speed limit even with the lower load. Certain roads are considered "all weather" and are allowed legal loads and speeds. They supposed to be built differently, but the road the farm is on (Oak Grove) is class A all weather from M59 to Barron (where the county dump used to be), but I was around when it was rebuilt and wasn't built different the the section north of Barron. Beats me just have to live with them. Trip permits are available for overload, but he'd have had to buy one for both counties, so just going to wait.

In the spring when the ground is thawing the roads are much more vulnerable to damage. The ground may be frozen to a depth of 8 or 9 feet under a roadway that was kept plowed, and after it thaws it takes a while to settle back down. When it is frozen you can haul 10% over the legal limit, but in the spring some roads are limited to 4 tons per axle.
