F250 Super Duty exhaust sensor failure

My 2011 F250 Super Duty check engine light came on so I put the code reader on it and it was showing exhaust temp sensor failure. Bought 1 at Napa and replaced the 1 I read was bad, code still read same thing. So I called my local Ford dealer and took it in Thursday morning. It had 2 bad ones and the cost was 00 for the repair including parts. I couldn't believe it was under warranty with 92,000+ miles on it, but you know I am not complaining at all. Keith

Ford put a 100K warranty on the diesel engines after the 6.0 problems. The only trouble with the 6.7 motor is all the emission stuff. They have to run the motor hotter than it needs to be for emission quality. The turbos usually have issues around 100K and that can easily be a $5000 repair. IF you plan on keep the truck for a long time look into buying the Ford extended power train warranty. A good friend runs the 6.7 trucks and he swears that the extended warranty is worth the money. The 6.7 motor is a good one but the new emission standards make them more prone to issues.

Ford has either extended the warranty or recalled those sensors. I had 2 of 4 sensors go bad at separate times. But the dealer could only replace them for free if they were bad. The dealer could not replace the other 2 for free. I paid for the other 2 because I couldn?t afford the downtime.

My 2011 lost 2 of them, no cost change.

The first one caused the truck to shut down, they patched the software, the second one allowed me to get home.

My 2016 has not had any failures.
