This was a clue on Jeopardy a couple nights ago, and it made me think of your situation with the board of review. Applies to lots of other situations as well. "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." It is called Hanlon's Razor.

Hmmm. Hanlon instead of Occam? In the case of my meeting, I think the problem started with stupidity and that lack of wisdom - called out by me - led to anger.

I am still waiting for a list of names of those "public" Board members.

If they don't come up with a list of names file a complaint with the state on the grounds they didn't have a meeting, if they come up with the names file a complaint that it wasn't a public meeting. The goal is to teach them it's easier to deal with you in the public meeting (like they're supposed to) rather than have to explain to the great white father in Lansing why they broke the law.
