Over the cliff we go

Does anybody come to your house and put a gun to your head? Don't do it if you don't want to. It's a free country ain't it?

You have to post about topics that others feel are important. Maybe even ask them if it is ok. Lot of testy guys on here.

Sorry. I was reluctant to click submit thinking it might be a little blunt, but we beat this to death twice a year and this was at least the third time it's come up in two days. There's literally nothing we can do about it except choose not to participate, but it would be awfully inconvenient to go against the rest of the world on this one.
I knew a family who used to stay on daylight time years ago when they were milking cows because they didn't want to skrew up the cows. I don't know what difference it made when they changed. Maybe they did it 15 minutes at a time over a few months,I don't know. I just remember being at the fireman's dance with them one fall and at midnight, they said they had to get home and get some sleep because it was 1 o'clock to them, they hadn't changed their clocks yet. That was when I found out they didn't change when everybody else did.
To this day I don't know what their reasoning was.

The amish don't change and it can make a real pain in the south end of a north bound preacher. The silly fools want you to accept there way no matter what.

Hey it is nice when you get home and there is now an extra hour of daylight. Alllll summer long you can play in the yard till it gets dark and it is time for bed. It is a twice a year occurance in the YT Year and we discuss all sorts of stuff. If you don't want to do anything but complain then just don't come on the forum and go hid in your me me me closet.

Only white man think you can cut a foot off the blanket and sew it on the bottom and make the blanket longer!

It's just dumb that as a nation we have to change the standard of time rather than just change our hours of business. I always laugh when they try to blame the farmers, like they changed their business model on what hour it was. I have a little more light today to get some more work done, not really sure what time it is but I'll see ya'll later.

That's the one thing I'm qualified for. I've been practicing for over seventy years so I should be good at it. TDF

(quoted from post at 08:40:41 03/10/18) Well once again, here in Central Wi. Just like lemmings we gotta go over the cliff again, wish they'd just leave that dang clock alone!
Nobody has said you HAVE to change your clocks.

My dad and older brothers milked by hand when I was young. Dad said the cows would wander up towards the barn around milking time, both morning and afternoon. The cows didn't get DST.

People can try to blame farmers all they want, but it is their elected representatives who hold sway in this case.
Retailers of outdoor sports are chief among those who lobbied for the extra hour in the evening, along with numerous 3 letter agencies with the Dept of Energy chief amongst them. Outdoor retailers of sports equipment showed greatly increased sales during DST.
As is usual, its all about the money.

The DOE said it would save on lighting costs, about 4% of total US energy cost. And with later studies it was shown to be a wash. What it saved in the morning slipped to the evening side.
It was due to a lack of energy plan. After all, who wants more power plants despite an increase in population and housing.
Thanks for nothing Jimmy.

I don't really care one way or the other. I just wish they would pick one and leave it alone. Such is not the way of Congress though, they seem to think they have to control everything whether they should or not. I just wish they could pass a test on the Constitution. Wouldn't that be something?
