They blew the old Savanna/Sabula bridge this morning, been over and under it many times over the years. Blast is at about the 25 minute mark.

Bet that surprised a lot of pigeons. See the reaction of the bird flying in towards the bridge? It changed course fast.

If you walked into a meeting and even hinted at doing that around here you would be laughed out the room.
Mississippi is to big and powerful.

I am even kind of surprised the corps of engineers allowed it up there given the time of year it is with snow melt and river flooding.

I too have crossed that bridge when I worked for an implement dealer in Mt Carroll Il once cops closed the bridge as what I was pulling took up most of both lanes.
Sabula cop was ahead of me Savanna cop on Il side holding up traffic so I could cross.
As I think back about it seems to me I usually got those jobs with something to wide for bridge.
No flags over width just the flashers on truck how long would that fly now.
