how many clamps do I need for duals?

I have a case 1070 that was set up for clamp on duals. I didnt get them with the tractor but just bought a set. They are 18.4-34 and I got 4 clamps for each wheel. The case was set up for 3 clamps for each wheel. Is 3 clamps fine or should I try and find 2 more eye nuts or whatever you call them so I can have 4 clamps on each wheel?

I would not run with any less than four. On heavier and larger tractors I would want 6-8 clamps. The clamps are in tension when ever you put force on the dual tire. This can be caused by weight or torque. So your Case 1070 should be fine with four per wheel. A Case 1370 would require 6-8 clamps per wheel.

Shoup parts and all states Ag parts both have the eye nuts . I Just bought a set of 8 used nuts on eBay for 30$ shopped for the set

Deffinately more than 3. 4 might work on a light tractor but didn't work on our heavily weighted AC 220. 6-8 is what you need. Around here its consignment sale time and that's the place to buy what you need. Never seen the hardware bring much at those venues. Last I knew you could purchase new hardware from Unverferth but brace yourself before you ask price.

I don't know that tractor but you need to answer the first question ant body needs to know and that is how many bolts to hold the rim on that you can put the eyes on. If you only have 6 bolts then yoy are limited to either 3 or 6, if 8 bolts you are limited to either 4 or 8. You need to have them spaced equal around the rim. No 4 eyes on 6 bolt wheels and no 3 eyes on an 8 bolt wheel. And the power I think that tractor is then it should be an eye on every bolt.

This is not correct. Our 970 was spaced so there were 3 close with a larger space then 3 more.

Four clamps per wheel can work, but expect the outer rim to rotate and loosen. Six clamps per wheel will be more trouble free. Check several manufactures' websites for installation instructions.

We had a Massey 285 with 18.4 34 on 6 rail power adjust wheels. We ran 4 clamps on that just fine for the 30+ years dad owned it. Had 2 clamps in a row, skipped a rail and then the other 2.

Ran 4 clamps on our 1855 Oliver with 18.4 38 no problem either.

The sticker on one set of my duals says one pair of clamps per wheel per 25-30 h.p. So... on a 1070, I'd think you'd want six per wheel, though I've seen several in that h.p. range with four per wheel. Key is to keep them tight.

I would run a minimum of 4. Just take a wheel bolt to your local ag tire dealer. He will have an assortment of different size eyelets.

I think the key to keeping them tight is to use one for each place it can be mounted. Not doing that is like only using part of the lug bolts on your car or truck. Get by if you are lucky, not so good if you are not lucky.
