Who keeps one around for recreation, doing chores, checking fences or cattle, or running fuel to a stalled tractor...lol?

I used to be in to it big time, but I haven't had one that runs in a long time. Last new one I bought was a John Deere JDX4 Special. It's out in the lean to on the corn crib, but it's in pieces. My oldest son still has a few.

I still have my old Yamaha, 1979, had it all polished up a couple of years ago and was going to sell it but kept it just in case I get any younger or warmer.

still have the 1979 john deere 440 trailfire bought new here. have not had it running for about 10 years.

If I could get something like my old 70 Olympic or my 303 Panther, something that would actually go through deep snow or across grass and brush and wasn't meant for groomed trails, I'd consider getting one. Last few I've ridden were useless off anything but a groomed, solid surface trail. They'd go 100mph, but you could go anywhere with them. They were meant for bar hopping, not working.

Here is mine: it is the white one in the foreground.

Weekend before last six of us rode 460 miles in northern Maine in two days. These are pretty much barhopping sleds, but you have to really slam them down fast and jump right back on in order to cover 260 miles in a day. These sleds will cruise all day at 80 MPH if you have the trail for it, but we run mostly 45-65 MPH. The other white one belongs to a tractor pulling buddy. I also have a 1964 Ski-Doo Olympique which I hope to restore soon.

Mine is an "old man's sled" according to my son. Getting harder to find anyone withe the right tools to work on the older Arctic Cat fan cooled 440's.

Grizz, some friends and I went to Yellowstone around 15 years ago. We rode mostly in Idaho and saw some pretty good hills. One of the guys got blinded by driving snow and rode his sled off the trail and down into a canyon. It took us a few hours to get back into West Yellowstone after that. We were probably the last ones back in that evening.

Got a 77 Panther that starts right up every year. We haven't had the snow for it in a few years. This year was a bust.

I'd love to have one but most winters here snowmobilers are lucky to get 2 weeks of sledding. It seems either it barely snows here in eastern Canada in the winter or it doesn't know when to stop.

Last Winter was my first without a sled since 1981. I miss it and the camaraderie of my buddies, but their kids are still young and they can't get away. Maybe someday.

Here's one of my other passions. I started with tractors, backed away for 25 years and got into vintage snowmobiles, now I'm back to tractors again and still have over twenty snowmobiles.

The view is awesome, however there are too many people get caught in avalanches on mountains like that. I like to play with older sleds but no desire to play on that stuff. Just my opinion but i'll stick with it.
