I just placed an order from McMaster Carr for nuts, and bolts. I don't have a good source I my town for special bolts. The parts will be here I a couple days, some times the next day. Mc Master Carr has been discussed here before, it makes things so easy if I am not in a hurry. I am sure others use them also. The dog likes them because the UPS delivery guy brings her a bone. At our place alot of every day stuff is bought online and delivered. Paper products pet food laundry detergent etc. It works it's cheaper I don't have to remember to get it at the store. Win-win

I'm almost to the point of not trying to shop in stores. You go from store to store to store and they either don't have what you are looking for or only a fraction of the quantity you need.

I use them all the time!

Amazing how fast they get the stuff delivered.

And no hoops to jump through, just click the order button, it's done!

The first time I ordered from them was before internet, called in the order, talked to a real person that spoke English. Didn't have a credit card, didn't have an account, they just took the address and company name, shipped the parts. That's how easy it was!

Great place to shop!

What if ? The internet runs all the local bussinesses out of business and then all the internet suppliers raise there price even higher because they know there is no local competition ?

ebay is my first stop usually lots of deals on things there where people have bought out huge inventories and are selling for way under normal selling prices.

almart has already done that, so now we order on line because its no longer available locally many times.

The local suppliers are the ones that do the gouging lots of time.Hydraulic hoses in my area are priced outrageous,NAPA is the worst and unfortunately the closet to me the make hoses they'll be $50 for a hose I can get that's just a good from Surplus Center for 10 or 15 dollars.TSC isn't too bad on price but don't have near the selection on line sellers have, really no retail store can come close to carrying the selection of things like hoses and bolts as an on line place can and never have been able to.Just the way it is in today's world.

I use online shopping more every day. I use a lot of unique things apparently as places like Home Depot and Lowes to name a couple of sources, don't stock what I want but it's available from them online. Really impressed at how fast they get here.

As Steve@Advance pointed out he ordered over the phone before the internet. Look at the dozens of mail order catalogs that were around for as far back as the mail I would guess. It worked then as it does now because of the lack of local inventory and high local costs.

I live in a ?small town?, we are limited to some extent what we can buy locally, and of course the local slogan ?by locally? is brought up quite often! Not to mention any names but we have a well known ?farm supply? store this managed by a guy that drives from one of the bigger towns about 35 miles away everyday to come to work and this bigger town also has the same name brand farm supply but much bigger!!! We get flyers from both, and see they had a certain tool that I needed! I went to our local store and inquired about it as they did not stock it but the larger store did!!! I talked to this manager about the possibility of him bringing it with him the next day so I could purchase it!!! He said he couldn?t (or wouldn?t) and I would have to drive down and get it myself if I wanted it!!! I see I can order it online from another supplier for couple dollars cheaper and have it delivered right to my door!!!!
Guess that?s what I?ll do!!!!! Getting to where I order more & more online,,,,,

Use to order from McMaster all the time but got disliked the "surprise" shipping charges as they were unknown until you got the package in hand.

Have they changed to let you know how much shipping will be ?
