john deere 2020 hydrolic issue

uncle has a later model 2020 with a loader. Unknown to him hydrolic levels got low. No symptoms until stearing system quit working. He filled the system but things have not changed. any suggestions. Hydrolics dont seem to leak, no puddles. Though I am aware that cylinders leak and dont show.says when he fills the resevoir all works good for a few moments so he shuts it off and few days later it does the same thing when he starts it. This tractor is used very little but he wants it in good shape when ever he needs it.

Is hyd oil being checked with engine operating at idle speed with nut on dipstick resting on threads? How long since hyd filter was changed & sump screen checked/cleaned. What type valve(scv or ind.) controls loader? With 3 pt raised,engine running look in hyd filler hole behind seat for moving oil. Moving oil indicates leaking RS control valve seals.

What kind of oil ? Does he ever service the filter and screen ? Sounds like screen is filling with debris and plugging. Shutting down the tractor let’s some of the gunk plugging the screen float away and allow oil to flow momentarily .
