waaaaayyyy o/t. tractor question

ok here is a question. my 240 international utility has a large point fast hitch. i am adding some 3 point conversion points so i can use other implements on it. i bought the quick attach points that are cat 1 and cat 2. they are too long on the 240 to run my woods finish mower, pto shaft is way tooo short. i did a quick measure on my fergie to 20 and the distance from the end of the pto shaft to a centerline on the spee balls on the hitch is 18 inches. with the conversion points, the distance from the end of the pto shaft to the center of the drawbar is 26 inches. ok heres the question, is the 18 inch distance pretty universal for a cat 1 3 point? looks like i need to shorten the conversion points about 8 inches to get the 18 inch distance. the fergie is the only cat 1 3 point i have handy to measure off of. heres a couple pics.

The ASAE standard says 550mm (21.7") from the end of the PTO shaft to the center of the links (when horizontal).

The Fergie should have a 1 1/8" pto shaft and the 240 should be 1 3/8" so you will have to put on what ever pto adapter you would be using and measure from that.

I doubt any of that really matters as you can put a longer shaft on it.
BUT ! at that length your tractor may end up WAY to light on the front end !

i did upgrade the fergie to the 1 3/8 pto shaft. i do not want to change shaft lengths, i wuld like to keep the cat one distances correct. the adapters do need to be shortened, so i will cut and re-weld them. i think the bigger point arms are longer for the 300-400 tractors.

thats my plan rusty. i am looking for a measurement from the end of the pto shaft to the centerline of the spee balls on the conversion prongs so i can make the cuts. i have 26 inches right now which is way too long. my to-20 measures 18 inches, and i see the first poster has 21 inches as a standard. i jut want to be sure before i start cutting and welding.

are you sure your pto shaft wont slide out and get longer, but not sure it would go that far just a thought

the pto shaft separates before i get close enough to hook it to the spline shaft. also the cat 1 top link is too short to hook up. i need to cut the lower conversion arms and re weld them shorter. i want to be sure i have the correct measurement before i do any cutting.
