A man was jailed for riding his horse on a Los Angeles freeway drunk. Hope he had insurance and a license. Back in Minot N Dakota in the 30's, my Grand Mother's first husband fell off his horse drunk, and it killed him. You don't need to be in a car accident to get killed driving drunk. Stan

He needs this:

Well, Boy Howdy! A couple of our wonderful Olympic atholes got caught DWI after stealing a 'Hummer' at the games. Beat that for freakin' stupid ! ! ! $10,000 fine and 3 yrs in the calaboose is normal. Hey 'our' guys, they should get ALL of it.

Back in the late 80s my EX brother in law used me as a reference so he could buy a JD tractor so he could drive it to work etc. due the not having license because of DWIs. He got away with it by the way and would haul his family in a trailer to stores etc. Plus he lived in town to boot

Guy I worked with lost his DL for repeated DUIs. He took to riding a horse. Stopped at the liquor store on the way home and got arrested for open container and DUI before he got there. Tried to argue that he was just a passenger, and the horse was cold sober.
Good mechanic, but liked his beer a little too much.

My home town (pop. ~700), used to have a mechanic that couldn't keep a driver's license. The local grocery store owner used to have an AMC Spirit 4WD (remember them?!) that needed a new transmission rebuilt. So one weekend the mechanic and the car owner decided to rebuild the transmission. They were almost done when two cops showed up to arrest the mechanic for some offense. The car owner asked the cops if they would give them another hour to get the car together. The cops went to the local coffee shop for about an hour and then came back to take the mechanic in. By that time, the transmission was together, in the car and worked great. The car owner drove his car away and the cops drove away with the mechanic.
When he was busy, he could stay sober. When he wasn't busy, he was drunk.

Your uncle should have known better than to allow his horse to drink whisky and get drunk. Makes for dangerous riding !!!!

I used to see a Farmall M parked along the street in town where I grew up. later 1970's ? Turned out it was a drunk who lost their license and then they eventually got DWI on the tractor too.

Years ago all the small town drunks got by driving a tractor. Here in Iowa they have changed the laws so you can't drive anything on public roads if you have lost your license due to dui. I remember hearing a story about Country singer George Jones, driving a garden tractor because he didn't have a license.

Around here the license suspension also includes all motorized on road machines . For reasons unknown the electric bicycle with the foot pedals is “legal”.
