The wife wanted to go to Midland today for a seed exchange. Heritage and heirloom seeds. It was about a 75 mile trip one way,and she didn't have anybody to go along,so I went with her. I had a good hunch going in what kind of people would be there. A bunch of old hippies, naturalists and the hemp wearing crowd. It didn't disappoint in that regard I'll tell you that.
I made about one trip around the tables and that was enough elbows and little packets of seed for me,so I sat down on a bench near the entrance and just watched. I hadn't sat there very long when two older guys came through the door. The older one sat down beside of me to take a load off. I later found out he was 83. He started talking about milking cows, growing tomatoes and what not. I was just glad to have some company. I have to laugh right now because I don't know how I attract these guys, but he told me way more than I wanted to know about alternative farming methods, then politics and finally religion. Not finding fault with him,but there must be something about me that says "Open up and spill your soul".
We stopped in Mt Pleasant for dinner and the wife said "Well, did you learn anything from that old guy?". I said "Ya,I learned when somebody sits down next to you and starts talking, don't sit there for too long.". LOL
