A little blue for Larry

This was at our local New Holland dealers annual open house a few years back......there is now a Walmart store setting on this location, but they have another store not too far away and we are looking forward to their annual open house coming up this week. This probably looks familiar to IanC.

(quoted from post at 10:21:27 02/25/18) Parts discount and visit with neighbors.........
Back in the days of independent dealers we used to have free coffee and donuts at those customer appreciatiion days. Same as the JD FArming Frontiers. Sometimes they had demo drives in the latest tractor. Wish I'd taken a few pictures. I don't know if they do that anymore.

That other store in Corunna never had over 4 or 5 tractors sitting in the whole lot when I use to drive by it everyday. I use to deliver freight to them about once a week. I still don't see much there now when I drive by. They must of had allot more business at the one in your picture which I assume was down their in Fowlerville.

I think the Fowlerville store sold a lot of the compact tractors......but I never saw this many tractors there except during the open house.

That must have been the first year of the "big" compacts. Looks like Francis and Patty nerving themselves up to go deal with the smiling curmudgeon behind the parts counter (me). I would assume one of the big draws for regular customers was getting a 10% bonus for any money you put on account. Guy with a lot of our equipment would put money ahead to use during the rest of the year, which would be like getting 10% off parts and labor. We also would give extra good pricing on twine and oil. We used to sell a lot of compacts, one year (maybe '03) we sold 130 compacts out of Fowlerville. After Purdy Ford went out we also took on the program Ford/New Holland had with Michigan International Speedway to provide lease tractors to them. I wonder this year how it is going to be as GiGi's in Corunna that catered the dinner has retired. Getting ready was a PITA sometimes, but it was always great to see all our customers come in and have a good time. Probably every dealership feels this way, but we had a pretty darn good group of customers. Wasn't sure I was going to go, but now I've got to, too many good memories and people to chat with.

That is what made me think of the M.I.S. tractors as the open house was usually just before we had to start taking their machine to them. That also helped us sell a lot of compacts as when they came off lease they were at a good price point and had full warranty still (not hour wise, just time wise, if it had 200 hours it only had the balance of the hours).
