My hour meter quit working about 3 years ago but the tach rmps work fine. Any idea's on where to start to repair this or do I have to replace the whole meter and start over with ZERO HOURS? My average hours since I owned this 89 tractor was 60 hours per year so I would really like to repair and add 180 hours to the 2008 that shows on the meter. Hope someone has run into this problem. Thanks I am a new member.

If it's a factory meter, and you want to save it, search "automotive instrument restoration".

There are a lot of them out there, just do some price comparison.

If it's something Bates Corp can refurbish, they'll put whatever hours you want on it. I.H. tractor guys Bourbon, IN.

You can take the head apart by prying the seal ring off from around the glass.BUT,it will look and be all crinkled(the ring). Then you can spin the bottom driven end counter clockwise, IIRC, and observe what turns the hour meter. If it is all working properly, then the meter is bad. Actually a speedometer shop can do this for you,and would have the parts and can recrimp the glass seal ring hopefully water tight.Mark
