A little of my work

This is for a customer that cleans the machine tool parts inside a machine that makes computer wafers for PC's. The customer was writing everything down on paper, but their customers demanded that they automatically log values. The first phase of this project is to get the equipment connected and log the data. We will track the parts with RFID on the second phase so they can provide reports of the process values that match where the parts are.

They use ultra pure water to do final rinse on wafers, the ultra pure water will pick up and stray ions and metals. This machine looks for particles in the rinse water and will send that back to the server. The little lantronix box converts the signals from serial RS485 to Ethernet. The equipment is in Oregon, and the central server is in Arizona. There will be about 100 different devices per site that we measure.

The wiring will be cleaned up, this was for testing.

Way over my head too, but I do have enough nerve to ask a stupid question.

When the hose develops a crack and wets things down, are we talking a major dollar repair or just a new hose then the wife's hairdryer?

I think it really matters where the leak is, ultra pure water is very corrosive to metals.

The water going through the instrument is exposed to a laser, the reflection will show up with particles, it will count the particles that are in certain sub micron groups.

How pure is ultra pure water? At work we measure ours on a conductivity meter, make 0.055 micro mho water. I suspect that is no where near ultra pure. Good enough not to conduct electricity.

About 18 meg ohms, so I think that is the same.

The in and out from the cleaner is measured. It will be about 18 meg on both when empty, then the return will drop when part is initially put in, then ramp back to 18 after the ION's are washed off, when it ramps down to flat, the part is clean.
