Why be so rude?

KCCCA ....... if you are familiar with Google, why not use it? Or maybe you prefer someone else to do the leg work and do it for you? Unless I'm reading your post and reply wrong, it seems a reasonable reply that many are giving you.

The above is a response I got from 'Crazy Horse' earlier this week when I asked if anyone knew if there was a Pax bulk feed bin dealer in their area, or if they were even still in business. I moved this to the front again to make a point.
I have always, up until now, always gotten a wealth of information from this site, no matter what the subject, nor how stupid the question seemed to some people. I, in turn, have been able to share some of the ideas and knowledge I had about some of the topics that were being discussed and enjoyed doing so.
Crazy Horse, where in the world you got the notion I was wanting someone to just tell me something without going the Google route, I'll never know. You missed the point, and, you weren't even one of the two or three that said to use google instead of whatever, wasting your valuable time, I suppose.
You will not be bothered with doing 'leg work' for me any more as I will not be using this site any longer.
Thanks to all who gave some info I was looking for as I did find a dealer that has NOS and he is only 25 miles from me.

kccca Do NOT let the rude comments from a few ruin the site for you. There are ten people who will take the time and effort to help for every Grumpy old fart on this site. A lot of knowledge on here.

Heck I just did not answer your original post because I was not sure what PAX still sold.

I didn't see your original e-mail, but to answer your question, Pax Steel was located in Coldwater Ohio. It has since been bought out by Val-co, and they have taken over the old Pax manufacturing facility in Coldwater. I don't know anything about how much repair parts they still stock etc.
Here is their website: https://www.val-co.com/

Geese, If his comment set you off, you must have pretty thin skin, and you are bound to get more. Maybe even like my comment here. Most everyone here gets to the point rather quickly.

Never heard of Pax stuff, so can't help you there, but don't let someone with a bad attitude run you off. Most of the questions people ask on here could have the answer found on Google, but that ain't what this site is about.

I was always told. If you knew the answer you wouldn't be asking the question. I confess I am not sure how Google works anyway. No harm in asking. Stick around I hear next week. I am getting one of them new fangled rotory phones.

Popular line of livestalk items including hog feeders, livestolk waterers, chicken feeders and waterers.

KCCCA, I agree with the other fellows, don't let the one reply keep you from enjoying what this site has to offer. There are many friendly and helpful people here. We all have grumpy days every now and again, don't let it tear you up to bad. I have been told the only stupid question is one that isn't asked. I'm glad you found what you needed.

As has been said before:
'You can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time BUT ............'

(quoted from post at 20:18:39 02/20/18) I will use any search engine except Google, they are just too big for their pants.
Same here!!I use DuckDuckGo for general searches, and Bing for Image Searches. But still, I didn't have a clue what PAX was.

Google used to be good. Now they take over so bad, giving you a page of ads per search, and then try to shove you to stuff it thinks you want, not what you actually asked for.

A shame.

Paul

One of my first posts on here was on the value (worth) of an H. From the condition stated I said it was about 1800. I had my Email open, and was given a personal Email that was vile and nasty. I was shocked and thought I had made an error in joining the site. I was wrong. I realized the nasty person was just that. My suggestion is to look to your own advantage and continue to participate. If not, the rude win. Jim

Glad you chose to stick around Jim. Just think, a few more years and you'll be considered a regular. *lol*

There are a couple of rude people here but for the most part I have found that the people here are very respectful. I hope you come back!

kccca,

Stick around. Just let it roll... like water off a duck's back.

Lots of terrific people here, much good advice, many helpful folks, typically something new to learn most days...
Friends to be made - some of whom you may have the good fortune to meet and shake their hand at a show or swap meet... some whom you may never get to meet in person - but they will be great friends nonetheless.

Ever seen that billboard along the highway that says
"1000's of beautiful girls and three ugly ones."

Always makes me think the beautiful girls revolve.
The three ugly ones stay because they have no where
else that will take them. How else could they count them?

Before anyone gets off on a tangent, that comment is
not limited to women. Ugly tempered people in general.
Humankind. Be both.

It?s par for the course for YT. Ask a question or show what you?re up to on the farm and some jack arse busts your chops or hits you with some crass comment. I post now occasionally, but more so on other forums...

Yep YT has a bunch of old battle hardened farmers, hard workers mostly so called blue collar folks that will cut thru the fluff and give you a direct opinion/answer.Good part is most
of them know what they are talking about but definitely not an Amen crowd.Think you ended up getting a good useful answer to your question so it all worked out as far as I can see.
In the long run here I think you'll see just like in 'real' life you'll get what you give.

A lot of you guys are mistaking "direct" for rude.

Just because it's not something you necessarily want to hear, does not make it rude. Just because it is not a precise answer to your exact question, does not make it rude.

Ever heard of "teach a man to fish?" Yeah, it's a whole lot easier to have someone hand you a fish than it is to go out and catch one for yourself, but sooner or later someone's going to come along and tell you to go catch your own %$#@ fish. It's not what you want to hear, but it's not rude.

While it is undeniable that some get out of bed on the wrong side now and then (guilty as charged here) there is more friendly help here than about any other cyber source.

I have always looked at it the same way as being in a room full of people. Some I gravitate towards, some away. That doesn't make one wright or wrong. It shows that we are a independent and individualistic bunch , traits that are good as compared to the opposite,, in my opinion.

Well, I'm with the ACG and UD on this one. When I read KCCA's response to the two suggestions of "google is your friend" which we all know is a very frequent response here, I was very much taken aback. Very strange and unfriendly I thought. Then I saw Crazy Horse's response, and I thought, "well, a that is a little unfriendly too." But rude? no! So now everybody pig piles on Crazy horse who is an eleven year member to prop up thin skinned KCCA who is just two year and 75 posts, and obviously somewhat prideful. It is a shame.

I remember PAX equipment, but haven't seen it in a long time. More to the point, there's so much experience and knowledge available on this site that you could probably grow any crop or livestock successfully with only that information. You just have to sort it out. There's a great bunch of folks here.

If it weren't for the site cops, this place would be unbearable as it was getting before their last .....or else decree.

You have to consider the clientele.....independent, lots of BTOs, do as they please, know lots about lots and think they know lots about lots more, don't care what others think, advanced in age which aggravates the situation....did I miss anything?

So for the mouthy ones, just blow it off and be on about your business. Get a "grip"......not a suitcase, ahold of yourself. Grin

One of the first pieces of livestock equipment I ever bought was a Pax cattle feeder from the Farm Science Review in Ohio. I was only about 16 at the time and no job so you know it could not have been very expensive. We were feeding about 20 Angus heifers at a rented place and I was tired of wrangling feed bags. We set it next to a fence line by the driveway and just ordered up the feed mix from the local mill (remember when those were still around?) and the truck would just auger it in the top. It collapsed from the weight when moving it and we emptied it out and drug it home. That was also my first welding repair job, straightened it out and welded braces on it. Lasted until Dad sold out several years later.

I've gotta tell you,six weeks or so ago I was ready to hit the bricks too,but instead, for about a week,I just came to T Talk to check Jon's funny, stayed off Tales entirely for a week and a half and just kept to the Oliver forum. The feeling finally passed. Just take some time, then ease back in to it.

I think it's uncalled for. With google you often have to enter just the right words to find something. Sometimes you can do an extensive search and come up empty and ask a question on a forum and someone else may hit on it right away.

I certainly have no argument with any of the replies below here, everyone is entitled to their opinion on a discussion forum. I'm not a lawyer but I have to defend myself a wee bit on this issue so here I go. Actually, I did NOT respond to KCCCA's original post about bin parts as he claims. My reply to him was about his comment to someone else (Gene) who suggested he use Google. I thought that KCCCA was being a bit "clever" himself. Here's the short thread below I in a link, I'm sure you'll see what I am talking about.

When I first read this posting about rudeness I realized KCCCA was using what you said out of context because I had read the replies to the original thread. It is amusing at how many pander to people who do the dramatic quitting bit when they don?t realize the poster is just giving bits and pieces of a conversation.

At some point In the late 1960"s (1969 ?)I recall being upset as to a comment and an attitude towards me (that was only my interpretation )from a fellow. The Mechanical Superintendent, the "Chief of the department and WWII Pilot" offered me some advice.
When you left home Bob,your Mother never gave you the training or education that should have explained to you "you were given by the grace of God, a Back Bone, reproductive organs , and skin" I suggest Bob grow thicker skin and get over it Bob". You may well be on this great plant until a ripe old age of 80 or more!
Best 1969 advice I ever was given at no Charge.
I know today Individuals are treated like breast feeders for most of their 20's,30's and even in their 50's.

Rude and arrogant individuals live amongst us.

CH,
You and I have crossed words before so of course I think you are wrong - wrong about everything, probably even your birthday, shoe size and whether your favorite brand of tractor is worth a darn.
Just kidding.
I don't think you were out of line in this and it's all a tempest in a teapot.

Well Ultradog ...... since you and I are soulmates and so close (without even knowing each others shoe size or birthday), I will admit to you (and nobody else) that my response, after reading it again several times, wasn't exactly the most polite reply that I have ever made. But I never thought it would be considered rude. Anyways, looks like things have blown over for the most part and we all move forward !!!

Am I the only one curious to know what kccca wanted with

"Do any of you know of a Pax dealer in your area? If so could you reply with a name, address, and/ or phone number?
