Tractor fenders?

Many European tractors are road rated and licensed. To keep from throwing road objects on the operator, or other vehicles fenders are popular (or required) Jim

We have front fenders on all of the row crop MFWD tractors we have. So I would not make a statement of them being rare. I find that on my JD 6400 they interfere with the loader brackets and so I did not leave them on. As you can see in the picture I do have them on the JD 7810.

Friends in Iceland have Zetor tractors with very small fenders up front that turn with the steering. Mostly beat to heck but they're still hanging on.

We have them on the front of our T6 NewHolland loader, they turn with the wheels. Wouldn't go without them. If your going through mud than have to go on the road it keeps it from getting all over the windshield and bonnet. We live in eastern Canada.

All European tractors that exceed 20mph require front fenders, if they exceed 25mph they require 4 wheel braking, and if they exceed 30 mph they require suspension on at least the front axle ( I think).

Here in North America, the dealers sell them as an option , and are kind of pricey too. Bought my first tractor with fenders last year, and I will definitely buy the fenders on any new tractors that I buy . Keeps crap of the windows of the cab.

I think your right, same thing goes here, our neighbour has a 7930 Deere that's that fast,it has independent front suspension fenders.

It should be noted that JD offered front wheel fenders with the introduction of the 50 series row crops for models having MFWD which was back in 1983.

Front fenders were not a factory options years back, and tractors were not required to be licensed for hyw. operation.
Several after market cab manufacturers in the 70-80s did offer front fenders, and they were somewhat popular in the corn belt areas. A lot of people thought that they looked kinda crappy, or strange, and farmers around here could see no value in buying them.
As said with new cab designs, higher road speeds, and manufactures marketing tractors in a world market, factory front fenders gained popularity. Another BIG reason for todays popularity is that most tractors have MFD and those front tires throw up a lot more mud and debris than an old 3 rib 16" tire.
The pic is of the fenders that I built for my 931 when I rebuilt it. I have had mixed reactions about them. I like them and that is all that counts.

very nice adc. those fenders look factory, a lot nicer than the plastic ones we see up here. my neighbor has the front fenders on his new jd's fwds all plastic of course.

Loren, Never see enough photos of your 931.....beautiful tractor. When you sell it to me, you can keep the fenders.

Traction bar or R-1 tires will throw a lot more mud or sand or whatever you are on than tri-ribs.
