I posted this on the Ford N and Fuggie site and it drew some interest so though I would share. If you know what this is hold your tongue. If you dont know take a guess just for the fun of it----------- What is this hanging in front of this Fuggie.

I do not know the answer, but I notice it appears to be able to be raised and lowered. I would suspect it is to knock down any piles of hay sticking up so they don't get wrapped in the pto shaft.

would it stir things around a bit to speed the drying --never seen one before so its just a guess -- Roy

My take on it exactly. Lot of pheasants hens siting on the nest, reluctant to leave need a boost. I think some would extend it though to cover the cutter bar . Haven't seen or heard of any in years though. It was not unusual to see a patch of hay out in the field a person mowing had discovered a hen sitting on nest so just left a small area for her.

it is to chase game and birds out of the hay and grass it swings to the right over the uncut grass we had one but never used it and have no idea why we had it

They are plum-bobs so you drive straight when you mow hay. You line them up with fence posts at the end of the field and if you have a good eyeball all your neighbors will marvel at how straight you mow. We used to have these on our B Farmall when I was a kid. When the picture was taking we had them off for maintenance ---Tee

I really shouldn't make a guess at it since I'm not a farmer but. My guess it is to line the tractor with the rows when planting seeds.

Way back in 4 H we were told how to build one of these wild life ' flushers'. That is what the 4H leader called them in the 50 s. Never knew any one to b made. clint

Well, where then is the gun rack mounted the tractor? Aw, never mind, you wanted to save the game and birds, huh? (Tell ya, I got a good laugh outa the whole thing...heh....heh.....

My very first thought was mine sweeper by the looks of it. I'll bet the other guys are right that it swings out in front of the mower when the bar is lowered to flush out wildlife.
