US Tanker E. H. Blum 2/16/42

Wow--Split into twice. It would take a lot of 6013 welding rod to keep that ship going!---Tee

UD I bet that you would enjoy the book "Mathews Men" It is the story of many men from a VA seacoast town who went to sea, and about the beating that the unescorted merchant marine took from the German U boats along our coast during WWII

When you see what was done back then for ship repairs it seams almost an impossible task. Imagine raising most of the ships at Pearl Harbor, and pitting the back to sea. stan

Where is Lanse when we need him? I guess I'll ask for him-"Can I weld it with my 90 amp HF flux core?" LOL Matthew L

It was probably cost effective to salvage the tanker from shallow water. It also helped public morale and removed a hazard from the shipping lane.
