IH 454 transmission/ hydraulic system flush.

I'm wanting to flush the system out, thinking about draining and filling with diesel fuel and adding maybe a gallon of mystery oil. My question is will it harm my system to start and operate the hydraulic system?

Do you mean to add the diesel to the oil that is in the system or drain the system then add it?

I would add it to the oil in it. Once it warms up good it will run out well and take a lot of crud, if there is any , with it. Can always run new oil for a bit and change again if you think it?s that dirty.
