OT I know but hear me out: I have a job at work, 08 Chevy 1 ton dually, reg cab with small dump box. Park brake cable rusted in two under cab (its in road salt service). Its the "intermediate" cable. Goes from cable from pedal to end of one of the rear cables which is in turn, coupled to the other rear cable. There is NO, I repeat NO adjuster in any of the cables. I cannot get enough slack to join the two cables back up. I searched the web and found nothing except one other person with the same issue searching for help too. There be should be a threaded end to adjust but its not equipped. I did return the store brand cable from the land of almost right and get an OEM cable from the land of almost right and that cable was about 3/4 inch longer. but I need about 1 inch more. It has rear discs. I will try to attach pic.

Try holding out the release lever while trying to pull out a little more cable.

I put a whatchamacallet in my 2000 Silverado. Can't think of the name of it-turnbuckle? Bought it at Tractor Supply Co. along with some cable for $15. Chevy obsoleted the whole connection shebang & I had to rig it best I could.

They don't have a cable adjuster because the pedal is self adjusting internally. You need to pull the cable from the pedal out with a pair of pliers and lock it with vise grips. There is enough cable to do the job, I pull them apart all the time to take the cab off diesels. There is the possibility, though, that the pedal adjuster mechanism is broken. Do not add extra length to the cable or the park brake won't hold very well. Another thing to check is the park shoes, if the truck is rusted bad enough to break the cable, the shoes probably don't have any lining on them.
