Issue with relining

I took the brake bands to local power train shop for relining. They put new linings on the bands, but it was too thick and the bands did not fit the drums. I took the drum and bands back to them, they graciously relined the pads with thinner lining that fit. I would recommend that you take both bands/shoes and drum in if getting brakes relined, it not make sure what the max lining thickness can be and document that to the shop.

What you got the first time were bands used by brake shops. They must be "arched" to fit drums.
