To answer your inquiry it was George Conneman. The reason I made it its own thread was because of a letter I received from him several years ago before he passed. It was not personalized but I was touched that any instructor would care to make contact many years after having been there. It was in part to sell a book but the real purpose I suspect was that Conneman wanted to share his experiences as a professor there for many years which was the theme of the book. Unfortunately, his solicitation came at a time I just did not have the money for it so I had to pass it up. Maybe at some point when cash is more flush I will see if it is available through Cornell.

Didn't realize there was a book! He was on sebatical the year I could have taken his course, and it did not fit at other times. I had classes with George Casler, Eddy LaDue and Wayne Knoblaugh instead... and I think Conneman gave a lecture or two in one of their classes.

Much as many on here like to bash higher education, those gentlemen definitely gave us the chance to better ourselves! Lessons learned there were priceless!

Yes, it was a priceless experience and I should have made Conneman the title of the thread as I know other Cornell guys are on here periodically. Eddy LaDue was my adviser and he was pretty tough to please. Good instructor though and I enjoyed Dale Grossman and her taxation and finance class. In a lot of ways it was a tough time to be there as I was really wondering about whether there was going to be a future for me to farm or do other things ag related. Around the mid-1980's there was an immense amount of consolidation going on in many associated businesses to farming and many employers were favoring experience i.e. customer lists and contacts that went with experience. I applied for a salesman job at a Western New York JD dealer shortly after school and lost out because I lacked experience and customer contacts.

I was in his Ag. Ec. 302 class the first year he taught it and graded papers for him a year later. My room mate was his TA that year.
