The cooling fan on my computer CPU has 4 wires red, black, yellow and blue. DC power only needs 2 wires. What are the other 2 for?

Extra wires are for speed monitoring and PWM fan speed control.

The Yellow wire provides data for the JRPS (Johnson Rod position sensor) and the blue wire feeds the flux capacitor. Most of us find it hard to believe you were not born with this knowledge, and have adjusted our opinions of you accordingly...
