My case 580 diesel lost power under load
and putting out alot of black smoke. where should I start too look? As always thank you

Simple, change your filters. The beauty of diesel. I know that it is counterintuitive to see black smoke when not getting adequate fuel, but that is what they do.

Also check the air intake system, any diesel that's starved of air WILL smoke black, or not run at all. Not as common, but severe exhaust system blockage will cause trouble too. Had a Cummins 6BT do that once, start and run five seconds and die. Engine had two exhaust ports plugged with shop towels, when they got into the smaller turbo port the exhaust was blocked. No exhaust out means No air in, so engine would die with a huge cloud of black smoke.
