SOME OLD PICTURES WE FOUND

Here are 4 old pictures we found in my late inlaws stuff. The first one is backwards as these were converted from old slides and one was in the wrong way but it is still pretty neat. I remember my father-in-law telling about the year it was too wet to use a wheeled tractor to harvest oats so he borrowed this crawler. The second is his MH 50 that I still have. And the other is the 30 he traded for the 50. I thought you all would enjoy these. ps anyone know the model of the combine?

Awesome photos!! That one of the 50 looks like it's straight out of the TV show Lassie. *lol*

Nice tire chains on that 30, but sure ain't ever seen a loader like that before!

Thanks for the pics. The combine brings back memories. The first combine I drove, if you can call it that, was a PTO driven 12a pulled by a 60 Deere. I was just a little kid, the owner of the combine was combining dad’s oats. A Wagon was hooked to the combine alongside the combine and the owner wanted to go back and level oats in the Wagon so he could unload on the go. He put me on the tractor, told me to follow the windrow and he climbed in the Wagon and leveled oats while I steered the tractor. If I remember right he got the tractor going and I just steered. The tractor was in low gear so if something went wrong it at least wouldn’t happen fast.

Hi, I believe that is a Ferguson LUO loader. It was
used in combination with a pintle hook frame that
fit between the 3pt lift arms. The matching
spreader had the pintle donut hitch. You just
backed up aligned with hitch, lift the 3pt arms and
away you go with spreader in tow. I used to spread
40 loads a day with that set up. Our loader had
manure forks. The spreader had 1 lever. The lower
you put it the faster the feed to the beaters. Thanks
for the memories! Ed Will Oliver BC

Brought back some memories of my childhood. Dad had a 12A combine, I remember being fascinated by all the belts and pulleys, today it
would be an OSHA nightmare.

I don't know if there are any pictures of it or not. Dad tells of bolting 3 ft Oak 2x4's to the tracks on the D-4 to pull his cousins M with the combine on it to run the PTO. They put a cable between the front wheels and would pull it sideways when the mud got to the top of the hood. Put planks under the combine to skid on. I think he said it was 46 or 47.

I have seen pics of crawlers with wood extensions bolted to the tracks to enable the crawler to pull sleds with hay for cattle after a major snow storm

Agreed ,12A,.the header flanges appear to be strait ..the 25 is indeed canvas , but Like the Auger feed 30,. these combines have 6-10 inch offsets to widen the heads on each side ,.i do not know for sure, if the cylinder and shaker shoe on the 25 and 30 were wider than the 12a,.but perhaps other improvements were made to the 12A design to ramp up the capacity..
