Ahh Haa Another January Thaw

Just what I was hoping for. Thawed enough to remove frost to keep the rain from not ponding real bad. Gotta love that two inches of mud pie soup. Supposed to get real cold again. I wonder how soon we will get another of those thaws with just a little rain. I know, get a new rope!

Same here in Missouri had week of temps below 20 and some nights down to around -7 then yesterday evening we got around 1.5 inches of rain and now instead of slick nasty mud we have nice packed mud

with climate change we get more and more "jan. thaws".

Not really, I am 79 and we have always in the coldest years still had a January thaw. It was just as troublesome when I was in High school milking cows and carrying bags of feed from the trailer to the self feeders for 500 hogs digging trenches with the tractor to get there. Picking corn with a two row new idea picker that the elevator was 90? to the rows. Two tractors on the picker and two tractors on the wagon to get thru the slimy clay. Fond memories of working together with neighbors to get the corn in the crib because it was just what needed to get done if you were to make a living for all involved. Never did much thinking about whether it was someone else's fault that is crappy out back then. It was what it was so we dealt with it. Much that same as I do now except I didn't need a walker back then. I also didn't have you people to complain to so I can recount the past. As a kid I would have been told lets get the animals tended to so we can all eat.

I got mud too. The frost is 6 inches down so I got 6 inches of soup. My pond has a few inches of water on top of 7 inches of ice. You know it bad when the Polaris ranger gets stuck in 2wd doing the feeding.

Yup, Got our second thaw this month with rain and cold on it's way in couple days.
Last one went from almost record cold for a week then to a record high (68) back almost record cold (sub-zero), over an 70 degree drop in 12-24 hours.
