Tire chains coming off

I’ve struggled for 3 seasons with these chains coming off while clearing snow with the back blade on my JD 2555. I figured out what I’d causing it purely by accident. When the blade is angled and loads up with snow about 20’ down the driveway the blade swings on the 3 pt into the inside edge of the rear tires and strikes the chains docking them off. Does anyone have a recommendation how to chain the lower links so the can not swing out when under load. I have adjusted the blocks to their max limit and still have to much travel.

Thank you

I had an implement or two that would do the same type of thing. The trouble is the hitch pins on the implement are too wide for the tractor. If you can narrow them in on the implement that would be best. I know that may not be possible but it would be best.

What you can do is run chains in an "X" across the two lift arms. I have hooked them to the lift arms right where the lift links hook to the arms. Then take the other end across to where the lift arms hook to the pins on the implement. Short chains and some bolts to run through the chains works. If you want some movement just leave some slack in the chains.

You can see what you need to have in the picture. You just need them to diagonally cross on the lift arms. They can hook towards the front or back. Caution chains on the inside of the lift arms only works when you NOT using the PTO. The chains would hit any PTO shaft.

Sounds like you have a CatI tractor hooked to a CatII blade. On some blades you can put the hitch pins on the inner sides of the push bar pin mts., but not all of them.

Deere should have sway blocks on the 3 point to keep it from swinging. Might want to read your manual.

I just was think on your issue some more. The sway blocks on a JD 2555 can be set either in the narrow position that is Cat I or turned to the wide position that is Cat II. So if your blocks are in the narrow position all you need is a 3/4 wrench to take out the bolt that holds them on and turn the block 90 degrees and reinstall it and your good to go.

Are you sure the sway blocks are in the right
position cat 1 or cat 2 . Also depending how the
implement is setup you might can put a spacer
between the lift arm and the implement hitch to
make the arms narrower I made a hitch for my drill
this fall and I didn?t have the spec for hitch width so
I guessed and I got it a little wide my hitch pins
were long enough I could put big washers on the
out side of the arms to squeeze the arms a little
closer together

That was the fix, moved them to the inside mounts and the blade runs clear of the chains. Thank you for the advice.
