Blew another hydraulic line on a different truck today. Luckily it was an aeroquip fitting. I don't know how many of you have seen these, but they are very handy even tho they are expensive. They are a 2 part fitting thay screws onto the hose. In this case I just re-used the old fitting byt taking it apart and cutting a bit off the hose and re-installing it.

Just screw the outer piece on the hose.

Then screw the inner piece in.

If course its easier to say than to do, but they can save buying a new hose. They are available with most types of fittings and hose sizes. And unlike those clamp together fittings these woek and hold up well.

I?ve used areoquip for air lines on heavy trucks
never used the ones for hydraulic hose thought
about getting a few for emergency repairs around
the place

If you get to feeling you need some I have two or more 5 gallon buckets of brand new fittings like that will sell for 100 bucks a bucket. Ever size in the world. I am just getting too old to screw the dang things. In their day they were the cats meow but now days hose machine is so much quicker. But in you cans not having to remove the other helpful. Knowing how to put the fittings together also helps. I have seen guys fight getting that first collar on there for hours.

I'd like have a dollar for all those fittings I put on hose since 1977!! I could buy a couple of six
packs of good beer like Old Milwaukee's Best!

jon f mn, we had them on a Prentice Log-Loader on the truck. All you need is a sharp single-bit, block of wood and two 12" adjustable wrenches. Repaired many ah hoses with that axe. We never had a problem with the connections coming off either.

I used to make/repair hoses on trucks all the time with those. Then,a number of years ago,the OEMs seemed to stop using the aeroquip style-everything was crimped style. and we started having hoses made.Mark.

We used to carry them in the toolbox of our State of Michigan Wildfire Dozers. I have used them a couple times and they were a quick relatively easy fix.

We had those at work for air line to the
starter,#32(2"). They were female flare and
had a special tool to a line and tighten
them. Safety put a stop to using them.
