A tractor you don't see much anymore

I live about an hour west of Baltimore, and 10 minutes from the intersection of I-70 and I-81. So when traveling on the interstate here it's common to see JD combines, sprayers, and 8 and 9000 series tractors heading east towards the Port of Baltimore. I also then regularly see trailer loads of new 5 and 6000 series Deeres heading west, coming from the Port I assume. (Also see loads of CaseIH and New Holland's loaded together on the same trailer)

Anyway, yesterday I passed 2 semi loads of JD 6140m tractors without cabs. They did have MFWD. That has to be kinda rare anymore I thought. 140hp open station tractor. That'd be like a 4440. Just thought that was interesting. Wish I could've gotten a picture.

My son in law has hauled several sprayers, combines, and tractors to Baltimore from the JD plant in Iowa. Many are disassembled, put in containers, and loaded on ships.

Case and new holland come from the same mother mother fiat industrial that?s why they are on the same truck

Medium-sized, open station tractors are often used in vegetable farming operations. In the desert southwest like the Imperial Valley of California this is quite common.

I didn't think about vegetable farms. Good point! We have some orchards and large landscaping nurseries around here that use the little 5000 narrow series.

The medium to big 6000 series are popular here. 90% have cabs here unless they are going to a livestock guy. The local dealer prefers that series over the 7000 series now. Something about the lack of a frame on the newer 7000's. If you want bigger they show you the 8000's.

Yes, I thought NH and CaseIH were both owned by Fiat now. When I get stopped in traffic beside a load of them I like to compare the two on the trailer. See what they changed between the 2 brands.

Small world! I'm east of Hagerstown. I mess around with old green iron in my spare time.
