woods 72 inch mower deck

I have a 72 inch mower deck that is now on a 1939 Farmall H. I would like to put it on a smaller tractor. Does anyone have ideas on what would be a good fit?

I have one on a 2-35 White, not a very popular tractor model but can tell you the economy of the small diesel is nice, love the live power and even really like the fact it has power steering, so those are the things I'd look for. Depending on your budget the more modern features the better IMO. I had previously used an 8N Ford and that worked good but the White is a huge improvement.

hard to beat a B Farmall easy to steer and get on and off sit to one side makes for great visibality gear ratio is fine. Pluss the tractor still has drawbar and can be used for other things.

I?ve got one on a C Farmall. Good Tractor but kinda tall.
Adapted a muffler to it so it was horizontal instead of vertical.
Would catch on low tree branches. My folks had one on a C
allis chalmers. It worked but I liked the Farmall better.

I have a 60 inch on a Super A Farmall and it's powered okay for a 60 inch. I really don't know if a 72 inch would work or not. It might be a little bit underpowered if you cut stuff about a foot or more tall.

I have one on a Farmall B and it is good for cutting the yard. Would not take into high grass because of the belt slipping and breaking.

When I first started mowing, I had a Woods 72 attached to my TO20. It was all the tractor could do, but it did pull it. In thick brush I had to take a lesser cut. Now it's attached to my MF 231, with a three cylinder Perkins diesel, which is an easy pull. Stan

Super C would be a good choice. I kept hitting limbs with mine too.

I have a 72" Woods deck under an AC B. Nothing wrong with the mower but the whole setup is like mowing with a dinosaur. Of particular convenience is the lack of power steering, requiring 20' radius to turn and most importantly, lack of live pto. Haven't used the setup in years. There are much better and easier ways to mow.

I have a Woods 84 behind my MF 135 (same engine as the 231), it will pull it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnV0W9dcrtA
