After an unscientific survey of several of the forums, I've concluded that the main two problems that people have, is that their hydraulics leak, don't work, or both. The other problem is that the people who can't spell "hydraulics" shouldn't be trying to work on their own tractors. Glad mine are old too old to have them.

Not to sound too over simplistic, but if they didn't leak and were working, why would anybody post about them?

Although my spelling is pretty good, there are lots of good guys who can't spell worth a shirt but are excellent mechanics.

You have made a good point!! It amasses me with some of the questions that come up, should be simple diagnosis, but there are many "new-to-tractors" people who are now posting on this site. Their conception of a tractor is a 8N or a green tractor with yellow wheels. No tools, no knowledge of a tractors capabilities or limitations, or how to operate them.
I think that Those of us who grew up operating and repairing tractors need to try to guide them. Hopefully they are capable of comprehending what we are trying to tell them.

And why should anyone care whether the spelling was wrong when someone needs help. Last time I checked, everyone on this earth has a problem of one kind or another. So what if they can't spell correctly, it doesn't make less of a person of them. I try to spell correctly but it usually doesn't matter to my tractors or my FRIENDS ON HERE.

Most have NEVER learned the old axiom, "If you don't know about LEVER 'A', LEAVER 'B'........!!!!!"

If it weren't for spell check...

I don't know if I was always this bad, or spell check has made me aware of my poor spelling.

But am I getting better? Or becoming more dependent?

I do find those that review what they have written, use punctuation, and take the time to spell check, come across as being more serious about seeking a solution, or offering cognitive advise.

The only problem with my hydraulics today is the cold. The front end loader was pushing oil out around the rod on one of the bucket cylinders as I tried to drop a bale in the feeder. The cylinders are old and well worn, combined with temps in the -20s it was too much for the seal. I guess I'll see how it works next time I move a bale. MIght have to change over to the JD and the 146 loader. Should have gone with the "low-vis" hydraulic oil last change.
And yes, the number of people that spell it "hydrolics" is just mind boggling. I try not to complain and just ignore it because nobody likes being corrected.

But seriously. I bet if you grouped people it would come out about even. Those that could spell hydraulic shouldn't be allowed to work on their tractor, those that could spell hydraulic were allowed to work on their tractor and those that murdered hydraulic but could do a fair job with a repair. Everyone has a talent.

Repairing a tractor is the main reason my brother said that he would never own one.

Ditto and 2 times what Steve is saying. Should not really single out posters on here, but a couple on here have very good experience and their recommendations are very good. However, once they run their sentences and points all together and mispell a couple words the value level of what they wrote has demminished greatly. I try to add clarification when I think it will be useful to the OP. I currently dislike the punctuation garble I see between Classic and Modern views of this forum when posting from my iPhone. I try to punctuate corrrectly and when it just comes out as added garble the value of my post gets degraded. I have started using three periods in a row instead of quotes because that is one of the forms of punctuation that screws up.

(quoted from post at 23:12:45 12/26/17) One thing I like about this site is that there are few spell police, and few critics.

HA!!!!!! thats the funniest thing i have read on here in awhile!
