A guy at work has cancer, I gave the HR lady $300 to give him to buy presents for his 5 kids. Told her that my name never comes up. Later found out that a single Mom in the tool crib just got on full time a couple months before we got our bonuses and they pro rated hers, so she didn't get much. I gave the HR lady a $100 to give her for Christmas and $ 50 for the lady janitor (no kids), same deal as before. Dropped a $100 in the red kettle at Walmart.

Our church youth group rode around last night and gave out stockings full of goodies to needy folks, had a great time driving kids around. Also my wife cooked lasgna and rolls couple weeks back ,youth did the serving at church and raised tip money. Bought 6 bikes for another family. Good youth group we have. "when you do it for the least of these..........."

We have some families that we help out all during the year. They are legitimate needy. Learned when I was a kid what it is like so if we can help we are ready any time.

We give a good amount every week at church. In addition there is the deacon's fund collection once a month. It goes to help people with problems. In September-October our church rebuilt an elderly couple's house for them. I spent four days a week on it for six weeks. Put everything else on hold. I did the dirt work and the plumbing, among other things and generally encouraged others so that we didn't lose steam so that we got it done. I also give time to the town through some committees and boards and the Fire dept. I average around four calls per week at the Fire Dept. I give time to the local snowmobile club maintaining the trails. We had a side trail that had some trees down that we had not gotten to. We have a good amount of snow coming so I went out by myself a couple days ago and cleared it.

I enjoy doing what you have super99, and I do admire what you have done. Wish there was more people like you

At church we have an Angel Tree that we get name tags off of. The local social services people get names of kids that would get nothing and we did 20 of them this year. I got my wife to get me extra cash from my check this week, gave a co-worker $50 to help him out, his wife lost her job and then they split up! I'd rather do things like than get a bunch of gifts myself. It's just that I've got what I need and I'd rather help others if I can.

When my wife passed away she had a large collection of Teddy Bears. After keeping them for ten years I decided to part with them. Took them (a large garbage bag full) down to the local sheriff's office to give to troubled kids. Still have another bag full for the next time.

Our church gets about 50 needy families each year, and each year we pick a family from the list and buy the things they need.
That includes food and toys and cloths

I got a few fellow nnalert from our club to go in with us to adopt a family for Christmas. They were a single working mom with four kids. We got all the kids some clothing and a toy, a little something for mom, and $100 gift certificate at the local grocery store for chow. I imagine this will be an annual project. Everyone involved gained from the experience. My WAY better half Cathy did her usual cookie, candy, and fruit thing for elderly folks we know. Merry Christmas to y'all! gm
