(quoted from post at 16:04:44 12/23/17) Wish we'd get some snow! Just a foot or two would be enough. Last year I put exactly 2 miles on the sled. We had an inch or two so I gave it a few laps around the pasture to be ready for more. No more came. Ice on the river didn't get think enough to run either. Another expensive toy sitting but always hope for next year.
(quoted from post at 08:06:12 12/24/17) You guys that like snow how do you keep from freezing out in it? I can handle down to about 45F but not much below that. Cannot dress heavy enough for those temps. And how would you like to shovel out a quarter mile drive with the snow 3' deep? I have had to help do that way too often.
In our area, there 'is' one instance when driving your snowmobile will actually be warmer than not. It's VERY windy here, and the wind seems to cut right through the layers sometimes. However, if you drive with the wind at the same speed, then they cancel each other out almost completely.(quoted from post at 11:06:51 12/24/17)
Below 10 degrees it gets uncomfortable on a snowmobile, especially if you are on a wide open trail running 60-70 MPH. Most of the time though you are constantly moving on the seat so the exertion keeps you warm. Most people clearing a long driveway are in a heated cab with a window open because it is hot in there.
