Oil problem with my 900 Ford traacator.

I've had my 1955 Ford 900 for over 25 years. This last year it started moving the transmission oil into the engine crankcase. The only way I think this happens is a rusted hole in the tube passing through the transmission where the oil is picked up easier than through pickup tube in hydraulic chamber, then leaks past the hydraulic pump and ends up in the engine crankcase. The 3-pt works perfectly, but transmission is starting to make noise. I add to the transmission but this ends up in the engine. I need information on my problem. Am I correct? Do I need to tear the tractor down and start some work on it. I have already have the hydraulic pump seal, not installed yet. Can anyone help me? Thanks, Chucklar.

(quoted from post at 15:18:39 12/22/17) The ONLY place hyd oil can get in engine is thru hyd pump seal.

Thank you Shaun, I have a new seal, I will tackle the project right after the holidays. I looked it over, quite a bit to move, but I'll get it done. Thanks again, Chuck.

Sounds like a similar system as a superCfarmall. The little punp on the side of the engine frequently leaks. It's a cheap seal and a couple hour job to fix.Spin the shaft with some emery cloth to clean up the groove, otherwise the seal will fail and it will leak again.

The hundred series Fords have separate hydraulic and transmission reservoirs. A leaky hydraulic pump seal should drain down the hydraulic reservoir, NOT the transmission. Although it's likely the pump is leaking, that alone does not explain the loss of oil from the transmission. Unless he's confusing the hydraulic reservoir (measured with a dipstick) with the transmission (checked at the fill plug).

Thank you DeltaRed, I will do the emery cloth clean up when I tear it down in about a week. Appreciate the help. Chuck.

Thank You MarkB_MI, I have been rebuilding 600, 800, and 900 Fords since the 80's. I have never run into this problem before. It is the Transmission that empties out into the engine, Hydraulic level stays the same (dipstick Markings). That is why I asked about a possible rust hole in the bottom of the hydraulic line going through the transmission. This tractor was almost 40 years old when I bought it in early 90's. I've always keep fluids clean, but if it sat a long time with moisture in the trans before I got it, I was wondering if that could cause the problem, I've never had this before. I will be installing the new pump seal in a week or so. I thank you very much for the input. Chuck.

While a leaky pipe in the transmission might let it suck oil from the transmission, I would think it would pump it into the hydraulic reservoir thru the relief valve.
