Follow up to issues with 4000 HP natural gas engine

I talked with the folks this week.

They are redesigning the pre combustion chambers, the theory is that the chambers did not flow right under high load, causing irregular mixing thus causing detonation and mis fires. The total installation on this was about 2 million, I am glad I was not bidder, rework on turbo will be 250K plus rework on all the chambers will not be cheap. The latest change was due to a "theory" so it may not fix the problem. My part is done, so probably not needed.

Arnt there computer simulations that can be run for combustion patterns? Just running around on U'tube there is all kinds of stuff. If it is too intermittent I would guess that anti knock sensors wouldn't be fast enough? Just trying to figure. I'm just happy playing with my garden tractors and chainsaws.
At the Rough and Tumble steam museum in Kinzer,pa they have a monster of an engine. Just standing near it as she is running makes you hair stand up. Can't recall the name. Crosley or some such. Was from a pipe line pump staion. Liquid Natural gas and this thing not only pumped it but also ran on the LP. Was a single cylinder engine but fired from both sides of the piston. Almost like a giant locomotive that has been captured and chained down to do work in a dungeon or a work pit. Very impressive.

The mixing and combustion of high octane vapour fuel is rather forgiving.
The problem is the attempt to operate with NOX limits below practical values.
