Fabed up my Limb Dog today

This is a modular attachment for my wood splitter. It easily slides on the framework of the splitter tray.
This is the proto type without finishing touches. The cut chunks of wood are examples of how it will grip and hold a full length limb so I can block it up without bending and running the tip of saw into the dirt. Need to make the nose, ears, and tail yet. HeHe.
It will, clamp up to 8" diameter limbs and I can clamp them in at an angle to either side. It holds the limbs up at waist height or higher depending on how low I drop the 3pt splitter.
As said, there will be more finishing touches added.

I'm having trouble picturing exactly how you use it? I'm sure you know what you're doing-maybe post a video when you're done?

You stick the log in the thing so it's up off the ground, and chop it up with the chainsaw.

Picture the log being much longer, and sticking out several feet from the thing.

Brett, We used a buzz saw on the front of a Case SC for years up in the sugar bush.
no one ever lost any hands or fingers using it, but a few got hit by a pieces that got thrown by the blade. We still have the saw, and I have 2 SCs here.
I wanted this to be a modular component on the splitter, so it could be used in conjunction with it, and only requires one tractor and driver.
Bailies has a couple different versions for sale, one fits in a receiver hitch and the other is a frame that folds open and sets on the ground.

I have a Kubota KX41-III with thumb, but it is a long ways to where I pull logs and limbs to small landings in the woods. I am trying to center my one man blocking, splitting, and loading operation around my 3pt hitch splitter and tractor.
I have my Kubota B2150 set up nicely with a 3pt hitch skidding arch, and tool rack for saws, gas a oil, and other accessories. I drop and skid downed and distressed trees to small landing through out the woods. All short skids to landings on established roads in the woods, that are easy to get at with the big wood trailer.
Felling/skidding is phase (1) of my cutting operation. Blocking and splitting is (2), and (3) is stacking.

I found at times the excavator is great to just leave in the woods. It works great to snake trees out of tight places to the skid road and bunch them for the larger faster machine. I know you have the little excavator and probably building an attachment for one of your other machines. As always I'm sure it will work well for your needs and be built to the usual high standards.

Bob, just google in "firewood making tools". If you follow Wrangler Star, he mad a video of building one also, which he mounted to his splitter. I elected to build the cam lock rather than an adjustable arm for different sizes of limbs though. One size fits all without adjustment.
