Antifreeze question

I?ve always used the traditional green antifreeze in all my equipment. Noticing that it?s getting harder to find and was wondering about everyone?s experiences with the universal coolant that is touted to mix with any color coolant.

For the older equipment, I'm sure it will be fine.

But the newer stuff, especially diesel, aluminum, go with what the mfg specifies.

I use extended life universal coolant in everything and add diesel SCA's to a few specific engines. I guess if I found some traditional green coolant on sale then I might buy it.

Color of coolant doesn't designate what it is anymore. Everyone knows the old green, but there are a couple other greens too, along with gold, orange, red, pink, purple, blue etc. OEM's pick the color of their choice and who knows the compatibility or additives they use. One OEM color is not the same as another OEM color too.

After the warning I got for ma friend who at one time ran a repair shop about the new antifreeze and what happens if you mix the 2 I use a lot of the universal stuff because one never knows what who has put in what. I was told if you mix the new type and the old type it will jell in the block and then it will not run cool and will need a complete rebuild
