fire Extinguishers all replaced

Got my last fire extinguisher today from Kidde. It didn't take as long as I thought it would to get them so now they are ready to go back on the balers and the tractors this Spring when hay season begins. I've never had a fire when baling hay but I want to be prepared if the time ever comes. Now all I have to do is send the old ones back to them.

Just remember everybody, take that ABC extinguisher and dump it upside down a couple of times per year. Keeps the powder from settling.

I am assuming. ...keep it adjitated and the gauge reads correctly. Those extinguishers are around 175 psi? Not sure but they are pretty high. Sure someone on here knows.
Went on line and one says 14 times atmosphere. So 14.6 pounds X 14 = 204 pounds. Roughly.

I jumped on this right away when they announced the recall. Still haven't got mine. Their 8 to 10 business days was wishful thinking. This is going to cost them a bunch in many ways when it is said and done. Not only do they have the merchandise, and labor, but shipping both ways as well.

You are 100% correct. The extinguishers are filled with powder that will cake up if not turned upside down and shook good a couple times a year. If you need to use it, you just might get nothing out of it even if it is in the safe range on the gage. The vibration you might think from a tractor or a baler just isn't enough to bet your equipment or life on.

The ABC extinguishers have a shelf life of five years. They will still work after that, but eability is diminished. Take them to a fire service company. They will empty and recharge them. Also, besides turning them and shaking them, get a rubber mallet and beat them, not hard, to loosen the powder. I used o have rentals, we had extinguishers in them. Learned a few things over the years.

this thread reminds me that I have to get my extinguishers checked and recharged if necessary. Our local fire department is a pickup and drop off for the local service company, no calling around, just drop off and pick up a week later

Got 5 of my 4 today. Guess they chose to warranty all of mine. Old ones in the boxes, ready for pickup tomorrow.
